Kim Bates
Kim Bates was homeless, addicted to drugs, in an abusive relationship with her partner and living on the streets of Bournemouth. She was cold, hungry, in constant pain, she’d lost everything and was completely without hope. And this is when she met Chris.
Kim didn't know at the time, but that day changed everything. Chris didn't just offer her a hot meal, he kept coming back. He listened to her without judgement, treated her like a human being when most people didn’t and helped in ways she never expected. Chris brought her food, clothes, toiletries, and even helped find her and her partner find a shelter when they had nowhere else to go. But more than anything, Chris helped and enabled Kim to take the steps she needed to address her addictions.
Kim was able to get clean and rebuild her life. Chris helped her and her former partner into a shared house and supported her to start the journey of recovery. Chris then proposed the idea of Bee Mission which gave her a purpose to continue on the right track.
Kim started volunteering, researching, and many other things to help launch Bee Mission, as well as cooking and helping deliver meals seven nights a week for those people that were still living on the streets, all of which Chris funded.
Today, although Kim has still has health issues, she's been clean from drugs for five years and she's back living with her daughter and her family.
