We have a tank on the roof which is the only water supply for the project house which is also the Rehabilitation Centre (the only one in the whole country to assist child amputees).
There has to be both a water supply and an electricity supply to pump water from the mains to this tank. For months on end, we did not have one or the other and I had to revert to calling the local fire brigade on many occasions to come and fill the tank, this of course had to be paid for. The alternative was searching around the local neighbourhood to find someone that had a borehole, filling large containers of water and bringing them back to the house to be used in buckets for showering, cooking and cleaning.
This was extremely hard work and made it very difficult to maintain the high standards of hygiene needed for these very vulnerable children.
Thanks to a very generous donation of £600 from Chris Bialan, we now have an automatically filling ground water tank that then automatically fills the tank on the roof. We now have a guaranteed water supply.
